Historical Background
The Council and Senate of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) established UNIFECS on August 1st 1986. It was established for the primary purpose of making available to the Nigerian public and private sectors the expertise and excellence that abound within the University.
The establishment of UNIFECS in 1986 was designed to bring consultancy services of the University under one supervisory umbrella. It started off as an arm of the Bursary but later transformed into autonomous self-accounting body with its own Board of Management. In March 1992 UNIFECS metamorphosed into a limited liability company with a professional team of managers and a Board of Directors. The university wholly owns it and the Board of Directors is chosen by the Vice Chancellor.
The Board is in turn saddled with the responsibility of appointing the Managing Director and supporting staff. At inception our mission was limited to provision of consultancy services to our clients. Incorporation has opened up new vista of business activities in addition to providing for flexibility in corporate strategy and unlimited opportunity to conduct business in a professional manner

The corporate mission of UNIFECS (Nigeria) Limited is to play a frontline role in manpower/institutional capacity development and provide qualitative consultancy services for accelerated social, economic and industrial development.

Obafemi Awolowo University is richly endowed with highly calibre Academic, Technical and Administrative staff from a vast array of Academic and professional disciplines.
UNIFECS is statutorily charged with the responsibility of making this expertise available to the Government, Industry and private individuals. We are duty bound to guard and protect the interest of our clients at all times for the simple reason that we have a solemn duty to uphold and protect the image and integrity of our owner – Obafemi Awolowo University. When we take a job we guarantee that not only will it be done, it will be done to the complete satisfaction of the client.
